Worst: Les Grossman (Tom Cruise) and J-Lo
Talk about desperate. Two Hollywood stars who are still trying to shine bright united onstage for a dance number that when you really looked at it, didn't make much sense. Cruise had already reprised his uber-difficult Hollywood producer character Les Grossman from "Tropic Thunder" in a series of funny promos for this year's awards show, but it should have stopped there. Instead, Grossman appeared in not just an opening skit with Will Smith and Jaden Smith (an easy promo for "The Karate Kid"), but interrupted an intentionally bad duet between the "Hangover's" Ed Helms and Ken Jeong to show the kids "how its done." So, Cruise appears on stage in full Grossman make up and starts dancing to Ludacris' "Get Back," just like in his memorable seen from "Tropic" almost two years ago. And then, out of nowhere, Jennifer Lopez joins him for a weird diva dance off that the crowd seemed to love, but only seemed to remind everyone else how depressingly calculated and off base MTV's "stunts" can be.
