Not everyboy can or should push the sexy, sexy boundaries of network programming, but I’m glad it was Rihanna who did -- and in a sea of fiber optic grass and underneath the bright light of a PoMo tree, to boot. Her medley of three new tunes (“Love the Way You Lie Part II,” “What’s My Name,” “Only Girl in the World”) allowed her to bravely conquer the stage solo for half, and then make our eyes fall out of our heads with that slammin’ dance routine and powerful lighting and imagery. I like that she took some chances: this “Loud” singer’s presentation had presence to match.
