Worst: Baz Luhrmann's Musical Number
In theory, Baz Luhrmann directing a musical number for host and fellow Aussie Hugh Jackman sounded like a great idea. Enlisting Beyonce and young stars such as "High School Musical's" Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and "Mamma Mia's" Dominic Cooper and Amanda Seyfried sounded even better. The idea was to create a medley of all the big musicals of the past few years as a shout out that the genre was "back." Unfortunately, staging it around an oldie like "Top Hat" only reinforced how un-hip musicals can be. This from the guy who did "Moulin Rouge"? Really? Pains me to say it, but probably one of the more disappointing moments of the night.
