With 'Divergent' now out we take a look at the best and worst moments
Best: Shailene Woodley
There is no disputing how fine an actress Shailene Woodley is. She arguably deserved an Oscar nomination for both of her critically acclaimed performances in "The Descendants" and "The Spectacular Now." Still, there was fear that appearing in a young adult franchise might temper her talent. We needn't have worried. Woodley gives the best lead performance among any of the recent young adult franchises. She's actually so good she carries the movie during some of its shakiest points. Moreover, she generates more genuine chemistry with co-star Theo James than either Kristen Stewart did with Robert Pattinson in any of the "Twilight" movies or (sorry, it's true) Jennifer Lawrence did with, um, whomever in either of the first two "Hunger Games" installments. And if there is one reason to see "Divergent's" followup, "Insurgent," it will be to see if Woodley can carry the movie on her shoulders once more.
