Best: Opening action scene
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" kicks off with one of the best action scenes any big screen incarnation of the character has supplied to date. An exciting chase sequence through the streets of New York with Spidey in pursuit of Paul Giamatti's Rhino character, it's full of everything you'd want out of a Spider-Man film. The physics of the action are genuinely thrilling, Marc Webb finding fun and fresh camera angles on the hero's web-slinging exploits, while Andrew Garfield's work under the mask is truly fantastic in this sequence. He's so physical with the performance, conveying a lot about the character's personality without the benefit of seeing his face. He's quipping mid-action, pulling off impossible but wonderfully "comic book" tasks along the way and just a delight overall. It's a brilliant start.
