Even a week before broadcast, MTV announced some major events surrounding the Sept. 13 show. Jay-Z and Alicia Keys would hit the stage together; new trailers for "Twilight Saga: New Moon"and MJ's "This Is It" would be shown; Janet Jackson would give a music and dance tribute to her late brother Michael; and so forth. Still, some unpredictable moments forced their way off-script -- such as Kanye's outburst during Taylor Swift's set -- making this year's VMA show somewhat more than what audiences bargained for.
