Michael Keaton, Benedict Cumberbatch, and more vie for gold.
Steve Carell ("Foxcatcher")
Pros: Carell has earned massive critical kudos for his transformative performance as John du Pont and was a top contender to win the Best Actor honor at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. He's also a Golden Globe winner, six-time Emmy Award nominee and six-time SAG Award winner for his performance on NBC's "The Office." He is one of the few people to win a SAG Ensemble Award for both a TV program, "The Office," and a film, "Little Miss Sunshine," in the same year.
Cons: In theory Carell should be a lock for a nomination and any other year he would be. The problem is this is arguably the most competitive Best Actorfield in recent memory. Should he make the cut? Absolutely. Is it a 100% slam dunk? No.
