'Doctor Who' (BBC America)
Peter Capaldi finally gets to spread his wings as the 12th Doctor (or 13th or 14th depending on your math). Fan expectations are high as Capaldi has dealt out delicious soundbites about how he put his foot down and his Doctor will not be a flirty man-child. Will this stubborn streak expand to giving Clara (Jenna Coleman) some actual character development instead of being regulated to a MacGuffin in a short skirt? Hopefully Moffat and company opt to plum the depths of unresolved story lines — is Tasha Lem (Orla Brady) a regenerated River Song, will The Doctor dedicate himself to freeing the other Time Lords, how does changing a fixed point in time such as Trenalore effect the time stream, was Capaldi the Doctor in the Pompeii episode — rather than fall back on the bland Monster Of The Week formula.
