When did you get the first Reba [McEntire] comparison in your life?
I really never heard that before I came here. That was the first time I've ever heard that I sounded like Reba was coming here. It was amazing. They said Tina Turner, Kelly Clarkson and Reba all mixed into one last night. That was completely amazing.
You had a lot of energy in that performance. Was it bottled up?
That's how I always try to perform. America hasn't really gotten to see it quite yet, and I'm so glad they did last night. That's how I want to do all my rock songs and then put passion into ballads and stuff. So hopefully I'll get to show America that.
What can we expect from you musically? What's your style?
My style is country southern rock. Miranda Lambert is my idol, my inspiration. I love her. I'm obsessed. I tell people I want to be the girl version of Waylon Jennings. I was raised up on Waylon Jennings and Marty Robbins and everythign, so that's what I really want to go for.
Which artist would you like to be the theme for theme week?
I would love to see Miranda Lambert be a theme, but I don't know that would happen. But someone like Waylon [Jennings], Kris Kristofferson or someone like that. That would be amazing for theme week. George Jones even. Maybe someone like that.
You've mentioned many older country artists. Do you think of yourself as an old soul to some degree?
Maybe a little bit. I was raised up on Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash and all that. I really do listen to that kind of music. On my iPod you'll find George Jones, Johnny Cash, Waylon and Miranda. That's what I listen to 24/7. Also Justin Moore and Jason Aldean. He's inspiration.
Do you have a bad habit that would surprise fans?
Um, I bite my cuticles. I hate it. It's really bad. They look bad. But everybody knows that I'm a hunter [already] so that's bad. I love to hunt. Deer hunting season I try to go every day. I went so much this past year before I came to Idol and everything. It's crazy; I love to hunt.
Who's your favorite Idol?
My favorites would probably be Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood, but I love Bucky Covington because he's got that southern rock thing. I love that.
