Interview: Tim Urban of 'American Idol'
HitFix: In the first week, it seemed like you were all ready to go home on Thursday, like you were convinced you were done. Is that accurate?
Tim Urban: That is a fair assessment of that first week. That was a rough week. To be totally honest, that was rough. I really didn't want to go out like that, though. I didn't want to go home, because I was hoping not to go out on that not, but after that performance?
HitFix: So now do you feel like you belong?
TU: I feel like I'm here. And I feel like having made it to the Top 12 is a huge load off my chest. After making it through that first week, after being an alternate, making it to the Top 12 is a huge load off my chest.
HitFix: The judges mentioned "Glee" two weeks ago and suggested that you go into acting. Do you have that background or that interest?
TU: You know, I do like to act. I've done some theater. I've goofed off with some friends making some home videos. I'd love to act. Definitely.
HitFix: So you didn't take that as an insult at all?
TU: Are you kidding me? You want me on a TV show? Yes. Alright. I will do that in a heartbeat.
HitFix: So what's your dream theme?
TU: There's themes I think I can do really well and themes I just think would be a lot of fun. A theme I think would be a lot of fun? Swing or big band. I'd have so much fun with that. That's what I started singing. Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble. That stuff.
HitFix: What's the nightmare theme?
TU: I'm not sure what the nightmare would be. Probably it'd be disco. I don't know how well I can rock that. That would be interesting.
