Whitney Houston, “I Look to You†(Arista)
If there’s anyone who wants a Grammy nod more than Houston, it’s Sony chief creative officer Clive Davis, who has mentored Houston since signing her in the ‘80s. The label even moved up the album’s release by a day in order to meet the eligibility cut off of Aug. 31. Here’s the problem: This has Grammy written all over it. The problem is that after the initial excitement, “I Look to You” has failed to generate sustained heat. May squeak by with a nod, but won’t win.
