Maxwell, “BLACKsummers’night†(Columbia)
Smooth-voiced, neo-soul singer returned after a long absence with the first in a trilogy of albums. The oft-nominated Maxwell has never snared a Grammy and he’s a long shot in this category, but “Night” received some of the best reviews of his career. We’ll see if his absence made Grammy voters’ hearts grow fonder.
