Is "American Hustle" really in danger of going home without a single statue?
Before the guild honors were revealed last month it felt like "American Hustle" had a shot to take home the top prize. Fast forward a month and even with 10 nomination, there are those pondering if David O. Russell's film will go home empty-handed. Its best chances to win are in original screenplay, where it's going up against goodwill for Spike Jonze's "Her," and costume design, where older period pieces such as "The Great Gatsby" and "12 Years a Slave" lurk. The film has an eye-popping four acting nominations with one in each category, but Jennifer Lawrence has done everything but publicly state she's rooting for Lupita N'yongo to win. One longshot hope is five-time nominee Amy Adams upsetting Cate Blanchett for Best Actress. That feels like a big stretch, though. My guess? "Hustle" manages to pull out a win in costumes and celebrates its massive box office the rest of the night.
