Is "20 Feet from Stardom" serious enough to win Best Documentary Feature?
We've been fans of "20 Feet from Stardom" since it opened the 2013 Sundance Film Festival over a year ago. It's moving, uplifting, tells an untold story of some of music's greatest talents, and those ladies! Boy, they can still sing. It's long been seen as a frontrunner because it was so successful at the art house box office this past summer (it's RADiUS-TWC's biggest hit to date with $4.8 million) and has more industry screenings than "Philomena" (we kid, TWC!). And yet, even with the entire membership voting for this honor, is it serious enough to take home Oscar? Could it lose to RADiUS-TWC stablemate "Cutie and the Boxer"? Or DGA winner "The Square," which has been available on Netflix for months? And let's not forget "The Act of Killing," which took home almost every major critics group honor in the country. It's still the frontrunner, but if it doesn't step into the spotlight we'll have a good idea why.
