Why it's beloved: Meghan Trainor's self-empowerment jam is catchy and silly and glowing and cute. No trouble!
I refuse to love it because: For one thing, it's bizarre that Iggy Azalea is in the middle of a firestorm for copping hip-hop poses while Meghan Trainor sounds like a Kidz Bop recording of some '80s reggae jam. But mostly I despise "All About That Bass" because it combines the Betty Boop wink of Katy Perry with a boringly "sassy" message about self-acceptance. It's a pandering, risk-free song that pretends to be defiant. I want Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" to devour this song like the hapless white rat that it is.
