Not everything needs to be relegated to the trash compactor room, right?
First Appearance: 'Heir to the Empire' by Timothy Zahn
Novelization: Hand of Emperor, smuggler, Jedi Master, Luke Skywalker's wife and more. She can cut her enemies with quick wit or a weapon. Adept with both lightsabers and blasters, Jade was trained under the Emperor from childhood, forged into a perfect assassin…until his death freed her to make morally grey choices that were her own.
Potential Screen Adaption: Take a page straight out of Marvel's playbook and introduced an older version of her in Episode VII. Then go back and give Mara Jade the series of action-packed blockbusters she deserves. She's basically Han, Luke, Lando, and Boba Fett rolled into one with the added bonus of smashing Star Wars terrible gender-ratio problem. Perhaps the single most beloved and instrumental character created by the Expanded Universe, it would be a crime against storytelling to let this interesting, nuanced character rot in a parallel existence, never to see the light of canon.
Casting Suggestion: Sophie Turner
