"Children of the Corn"
Plot: A young couple is trapped in a remote town where a dangerous religious cult of children believe everyone over the age of 18 must be killed.
Let's face it: Fritz Kiersch's 1984 adaptation of King's 1977 short story is absolutely awful. While children of the '80s and '90s seem to look back on the title fondly, I'd also venture that none of those people have watched it since they were eight or nine years old. It's a shame how bad it is -- and it is bad -- because the premise, about a town run by Amish-attired children who murdered all the adults in a purge ordered by a malevolent spirit, is as unnerving as they come. Let's just forget that the original movie (or any of its 97 sequels) ever existed and give this one a fresh spin.
Has anyone already remade or tried to remake this? A remake that you probably didn't know existed debuted on Syfy in 2009 and got just about the reception you'd expect.
