One of the great things that sequels can do is allow us to comment not only on the original film, but on the eras in which each film were made.  They missed that opportunity with "TRON: Legacy" by simply ignoring the changes in computers and the Internet since 1982, but they could still do it with "The Last Starfighter."  The mere invention of online co-cop would change the nature of the sequel, and you could really make some sharp and funny observations about gaming culture, and it would be great to see the world of "Starfighter," one of the first CGI science-fiction worlds, updated with today's tools.
