Crossover queens: Nicki Minaj and Janelle Monae
Nicki Minaj and Janelle Monae both managed to make funky urban albums that also made waves, too, in the pop sphere. The former will drop her sophomore set "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" on Valentine's Day (Feb. 14) in 2012, while Monae is crafting her follow-up to 2010's "The ArchAndroid" -- make that plural, follow-ups. She told Back To Rockville that she wants to release two new albums in 2012, dates to be determined by her "soul clock."
