The 25 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2012: Madonna, Usher, Green Day

What sets are you most excited about? Mumford & Sons, Justin Bieber, U2, Jay-Z...

Madonna

Madonna

Preceded by opening single, “Gimme All Your Luvin,” Madonna’s first album for Interscope will come out this March. We know the Super Bowl halftime headliner gets a little help from M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj on at least two songs on the set, which was produced by Martin Solveig, William Orbit and Benny Benassi. It’s too early to tell if her first studio album since 2008’s “Hard Candy,” will be a “Masterpiece.” A tour will follow.

You guys forgot OneRepublic - They recently announced at one of their shows (and it was also on their Twitter and on their Wiki) that their new album should drop Summer 2012

Wouldn't have hurt to put Smashing Pumpkins with Oceania in the 90's rock....

I enjoy Hitfix's TV and movie coverage, having followed Sepinwall from the NJ Star-Ledger. I didn't even realize you had music coverage, and now I wish I hadn't realized it. Madonna? Usher? Metallica?

    REALLY?

    Seriously?

Ugh. Even in the mostly-creatively-bankrupt world of top-40 music, Madonna has been washed up for years, and has done nothing worth noting. Same for Metallica.

One of these sections is not like the others!

Oh well, I guess you are going for things you think will get you copious page hits....

katie, a princess "Madonna... has done nothing worth noting. Same for Metallica."

      That's a pretty unsupportable position.

    • IKE1....Maybe you should get some facts on Madonna before posting some dumb a** post...The Sticky & Sweet Tour broke many records in terms of its ticket sales, commercial gross and audience attendance. After the first leg, it became the highest grossing tour by a solo artist, earning $282 million, breaking the previous record Madonna herself held with her Confessions Tour. Overall, Madonna performed to over 3.5 million fans in 32 countries, grossing a total of US$408 million, making it also the fourth highest grossing tour of all time, only behind U2's U2 360° Tour, AC/DC's Black Ice World Tour and The Rolling Stones's A Bigger Bang Tour. It still remains the highest grossing tour by a solo artist.

How did Brandy not make this list? Why would we be anticipating albums from people who just had an album out like last year.

I really hope you're right about QOTSA. Feels like I've been hearing about a new album for two years now

The fact that they made no mention of Rush's Clockwork Angels release just shows the author has no real knowledge of the music industry.

The fact that you categorize Muse as Twilight vets is infuriating. They were a leading band in Europe before Twilight was even a book.

Drumslinger I agree. Matt Bellamy is a musical genius and to see them live is something to behold.

So wrong that Tool, arguably one of the most original and talented active bands in the world, gets little more than a cursory mention while Bieber and Usher get full pages. Granted, they've been teasing us about a new album since 2009. Going to see them in Atlanta Feb. 8. A show which is strangely absent from the Hitfix calendar.
