Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi, “Rome†(March 15)
Danger Mouse is the man when it comes to collaborations: think Gnarls Barkley (with Cee Lo Green) or Broken Bells (with the Shins’ James Mercer) or the sad collection with the late Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse. Now, he’s paired with Italian composer Luppi for “Rome,” an homage to the iconic ‘60s Italian soundtracks. Recorded on vintage equipment from that era and featuring guests such as Jack White and Norah Jones, the set also includes some of the original musicians who played on many of the soundtracks that inspired the set. A vanity project to be sure, but probably one of the most interesting ones you’ll hear all year.
