Who is in the running (and who isn't): Sia, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Eminem and more
Album of the Year
Best bets are Beyonce, "Beyonce" and Sam Smith - "In the Lonely Hour." Some close calls are Eminem "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," Pharrell Williams - "G I R L," Jack White - "Lazaretto," the "Frozen" soundtrack, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett "Cheek to Cheek," Katy Perry "Prism," Ed Sheeran "X," Arcade Fire "Reflektor" and Sia "1000 Forms of Fear." I think there's still a lot of Grammy voters' hair whose hair is blown back by the sudden and delightful appearance of "Beyonce" late last year and they'll wish to be the biggest and loudest awards organizers to rally around her -- for all categories, and especially this one. Like Sara Bareilles and hitmakers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis from last year, the Recording Academy may want to lean for other "safe" hitmakers like Smith and Pharrell who made respectable full albums and not just a collection of hits.
