Who is in the running (and who isn't): Sia, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Eminem and more
Record of the Year
Your best bets are Beyonce "Drunk in Love," Idina Menzel “Let It Go,” Taylor Swift “Shake It Off” and Sam Smith "Stay With Me." Your close calls are Coldplay "A Sky Full of Stars," Lorde "Team," Pharrell Williams "Happy" and Sia "Chandelier." Remember that Record of the Year is about the performances -- the actual recording, and typically of a runaway hit by an ascending or ascended performer. While Taylor Swift's album "1989" won't be eligible until the 2016 show, she did manage to sneak in with perky "Shake It Off" before cutoff. But, then again, what song's recording has been more ubiquitous over the past year than Idina Menzel's soaring "Frozen" theme?
