Andrew Dice Clay - "Blue Jasmine"
Pros: Clay's turn as Augie in Woody Allen's critically acclaimed drama was one of the biggest surprises of the summer. In many ways, Augie is the most heartbreaking character of the film and Clay rips Cate Blanchett's self-centered Jasmine in one of the most memorable scenes in the film.
Cons: Clay has three things he has to overcome to land a nomination: 1. his almost three-decades-old reputation as a sexist and chauvinist comedian; 2. his lack of other film or TV work over the past 20 years (not a lot of "friends" to vote for you); and 3. whether Sony Classics is willing to push hard enough to land him a nomination.
