Emma Thompson - "Saving Mr. Banks"
Pros: Thompson is a two-time Oscar winner, once for Best Actress in "Howards End" and once in the Best Adapted Screenplay category for "Sense and Sensibility." Overall she's a five-time nominee, but hasn't been up for a statue since the 20th Century. She's also an Emmy, BAFTA and Golden Globe winner. In "Banks," she plays P.L. Travers, the author of "Mary Poppins" who fought Walt Disney over how her famous character would be portrayed on screen. It's said to be Thompson's best performance in years.
Cons: Right now Thompson appears to be a legitimate contender, but the Best Actress category is incredibly competitive. If "Banks" is seen as too "soft" it could affect her chances.
