More singles and less albums for major artists
With album sales continuing to dwindle, even for acts who can sell millions of downloads on individual songs, look for more artists to opt to release only singles instead of full albums. In late 2012, Swizz Beatz became one of the first artists to declare officially that he would adopt this strategy, but we fully expect more acts to follow suit, especially pop and R&B artists who register impressive single sales only to see their albums languish (Yes, we're looking at you, Carly Rae Jepsen). Rock and alternative acts will continue to focus on full albums.
