"Ten years ago we got thrown into this and we were trying to figure out how to do a character like Gollum, to make it believable emotionally. We really had this outside-in approach like it was a puppet. Yeah, it was believable, but it's not really what's happening underneath. So one by one just studying it and testing it, and Gollum is a good benchmark because you can see where he was 10 years ago and you can perceive everything that's going on under the skin now, what's really there emotionally. To go back and be able to do that was great. All these techniques that we're building, they become this tool kit. I'm really proud of the way we were able to make that work across multiple movies."
