Michael Pena - 'End of Watch'
Pro: Pena is basically an established Hollywood character actor at the ripe, young age of 36. He's appeared in the Oscar winning films "Crash" and "Million Dollar Baby" as well as nominee "Babel." His longer list of credits include "World Trade Center," "The Lincoln Lawyer," FX's "The Shield" and HBO's "Eastbound & Down." Pena has received some of the best notices of his career, however, for "Watch" and you could argue his charismatic performance steals the movie from his more lauded co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. The indie budgeted "Watch" is a surprise hit and if Open Road can get it on screener by the holidays, both Pena and Gyllenhaal have a shot.
Con: While it has established veterans working on its campaigns, Open Road is a newbie when it comes to awards season. Can they pull off a nod for Pena in a film that's critically acclaimed, but not considered a typical Academy film?
