Pro: An Emmy and Golden Globe winner, it's shocking that John Goodman has never received an Oscar nomination for anything on his long and impressive resume. In "Argo," Goodman plays John Chambers, a real life Oscar winning make up artist who assisted the CIA in a number of operations during his lifetime. Chambers played an integral role in helping Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) help six American state department workers escape from Tehran during the Iran Hostage Crisis.

Con: Goodman has a lot of good lines, but the showier role belongs to Alan Arkin.  "Argo" might just be a SAG ensemble play for Mr. Goodman.
