2013 Best Supporting Actor Contenders
Who will be among the nominees?
Alan Arkin - 'Argo'
Pro: Arkin's been around the block. His first nomination came 45 years ago and in 2007 the goodwill finally came in the form of an Oscar win (for "Little Miss Sunshine"). He's a highlight in the movie for his character's comic relief and representative of the elements Hollywood will relate to the most. Also worth noting: he's visible in "Stand Up Guys" this year, upping his profile.
Con: But truth be told, he's not in the movie THAT much and shares much of his screen time with John Goodman, who is equally good as another fixture of the industry establishment. The film also doesn't register as a big performance piece despite featuring a solid ensemble.

Like stated, the lack of B.O. success could stop the film from getting any noms, but if one ensemble is gonna nab it, it deserves to be Rockwell. Super surprised he's not listed here.
