Sally Field, 'Lincoln'

Pro: As the 16th Commander-in-Chief's First Lady, you'd think Sally Field would just be relegated to "supportive wife" duty. And indeed, even if that's all it was, there would be a long lineage to support
her chances. But it's actually much more than that as Field plays some of the darker strokes of the Lincolns' personal life to at times wrenching effect. And who doesn't like to see a comeback? Her last
nomination was nearly 30 years ago.

Con: How much of "Lincoln" will be boiled down to simply "the Daniel Day-Lewis" show? When you have a big charismatic performance like that at the center, the rest of the cast can fade into the background and get lost in its shadow.
