2013 Best Supporting Actress Contenders

Another round of living legends vs. young ingeues

Emma Watson, 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower'

Pro: Young Emma Watson is still looking for that exit strategy fromthe "Harry Potter" machine that made her, and "My Week with Marilyn" was a good step last year. This year she really steps it up again opposite Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller as the muse of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." She brings a complexity and a warmth as valuable as her co-stars'.

Con: But as has been repeated in these galleries when "Perks" has come up, the question is whether the film will resonate with an older crowd, i.e., the Academy. And that's still left to be seen. And as
nicely utilized as Watson is, Lerman and Miller outshine her.
