This year's top candidates from 'A' for 'Argo' to 'Z' for 'Zero Dark Thirty'
'Rust & Bone'
Pro: Jacques Audiard's follow-up to the Oscar-nominated “A Prophet” is a technical marvel, an thespian showcase and an emotional sucker-punch, and was acclaimed as such at Cannes. The French haven't submitted it for the foreign Oscar, so its fans can only vote for it in the top category.
Con: How many of those fans will there be? Cracking the Best Picture lineup is tough enough for a foreign-language film without Sony stablemate “Amour” siphoning most of the buzz. Marion Cotillard's Best Actress campaign will be its top priority.
