'The Perks of Being a Wallflower'
Pro: Coming-of-age stories, when done right, can be as resonant as anything else and this one avoids cliche while offering up some wonderful performances from the likes of Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller.
Con: Asking aging Academy members to relate to a story of young people coming of age is a tall order. Perhaps that's why the "genre" hasn't fared too well over the years at the Oscars.
