This year's top candidates from 'A' for 'Argo' to 'Z' for 'Zero Dark Thirty'
Pro: Robert Zemeckis's return to live action after a 12-year hiatus is sure to generate plenty of attention and a stellar movie-star performance at the film's center is sure to carry a lot of weight this season. Additionally, Paramount has a streamlined slate this year which will offer a lot of opportunity to focus.
Con: Zemeckis's only real significant brush with Oscar was 1994's "Forrest Gump" and contemporary drama can sometimes face an uphill drama. Also, there's the potential for being considered more commercial than awards fare.
