Wes Anderson - 'Moonrise Kingdom'
Pro: Many revere Wes Anderson's latest as his best work in a while, certainly since his Oscar-nominated "The Royal Tenenbaums" over a decade ago. He wrangled an atypical (for him) cast and cranked out a film that is of a piece with his aesthetic, yet somehow indicative of a more mature progression. Directors like to mark growth in their peers.
Con: The film opened in May and it can be difficult to bring something like this back around. Anderson's films haven't resonated much with the Academy to date and his quirks may still fail to move them.
