Which original scripts and adaptations will reap Oscar glory this year?
'Silver Linings Playbook' - David O. Russell - Adapted Screenplay
Pro: David O. Russell both adapted Matthew Quick's novel of the same name and directed it resulting one of the funniest and crowd-pleasing films of his career. A previous directing nominee for "The Fighter," Russell's script is full of distinct characters and remarkably walks the fine line of respecting their serious problems and laughing with them at the same time.
Con: It would be surprising not to see "Playbook" among the final five in the adapted category, but it has to perform at the box office to seal the deal.
