'Lincoln' - Tony Kushner - Adapted Screenplay
Pro: Tony Kushner's sensibilities as a playwright are on full display in "Lincoln" and mingle with the cinematic elements to make for one delicious dish that bears the writer's stamp. It's the timeliest of films, it seems, and with major box office and critical approval, it's becoming the overall frontrunner in this year's race. Naturally, then, other nominations will come much easier.
Con: If there's anything that could be seen as a draw-back for the film, it would be the stagey nature of the narrative. It might not open up enough for writers who like to see a vast display of visual storytelling.
