'Hitchcock' - John J. McLaughlin - Adapted Screenplay
Pro: Turning the making of "Psycho" into a fun look at Alfred Hitchcock's motivations worked for some. And that might be enough for writers to engage and chalk up the film's screenplay, with it's touching portrait of a man facing the twilight of his career, desperate for artistic fulfillment. Speaking of which, films about the process are always worth considering. Hollywood is, after all, plenty vain.
Con: The film may be too light a thing to really register with Academy members looking to be serious with their vote. And while it may work for some, it certainly doesn't for others, who deem it a crude or disrespectful account. Fox Searchlight certainly has a full plate this year.
