Which original scripts and adaptations will reap Oscar glory this year?
'Not Fade Away' - David Chase - Original Screenplay
Pro: Uh, it's David Chase. You know. "The Sopranos." Writers have tons of respect for the man and his feature filmmaking debut is a hugely personal story that resonates. It could be a sleeper with the right campaign.
Con: The film doesn't really have a lot of moving parts that will cause it to spark in other areas this season, which will keep visibility at a minimum. James Gandolfini's supporting performance will have some champions but it's a mostly unknown cast and a small endeavor overall. That could hold it back a bit here.
