2013 Best Adapted and Original Screenplay Contenders
Which original scripts and adaptations will reap Oscar glory this year?
'Moonrise Kingdom' - Wes Anderson & Roman Coppola - Original Screenplay
Pro: Anderson is a two-time Academy Award nominee, including once in this same category for "The Royal Tenenbaums." Coppola is a longtime collaborator of both Anderson and his sister Sofia. "Kingdom" is one of the biggest indie hits of the year and of Anderson's career. It's also one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year and should make a slew of top 10 lists. It's borderline for a best picture nod, but the writer's branch should reward it.
Con: Honestly, it would be a huge upset if it didn't make the cut.
