2012 Golden Globes Predictions: 'Homeland,' George Clooney, Meryl Streep, 'The Artist'
Will there be any suspense beyond who Ricky Gervais will zing?
Is it all just about Ricky this year?
It proves there is little suspense over this year's Golden Globes winners when the buzz isn't about who the HFPA will honor, but who will be the subject of host Ricky Gervais' zingers. The critically acclaimed writer and comedic actor is back for a third run emceeing Hollywood's biggest party and his roast-like performances are actually become must-see television (a rarity for NBC these days). That being said, a Globe win has always been a strong p.r. coup for an Oscar campaign and films such as "The Descendants" and "Hugo" as well as nominees including Brad Pitt, Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep will be looking for wins as they get ready for competitive Academy Awards races. On the TV side, the Globes love to be "first" in terms of anointing the hip new thing. Does that mean a big night for Zooey Deschanel and "New Girl"?
