Cannes Film Festival 2013

2012 Best Supporting Actor Contenders

Is this the most competitive category of the season?

Max von Sydow, "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close"

Pro: Early buzz indicates Von Sydow gives a moving and memorable performance in Stephen Daldry's adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's novel. Stunningly, Von Sydow has never an Oscar and only been nominated once, for "Pelle the Conqueror" in 1989.

Con: If he's as good as advertised it's hard to see Von Sydow being overlooked this time around.
