Is it Clooney versus the field?
Tom Hardy, "Warrior"
Pro: Hardy goes the extra mile - as well as in and out of accents - as a troubled young man who returns home to be trained by his father (Nick Nolte) for a MMA competition. Beyond the physical transformation (or enhancement) Hardy goes toe to toe with Nolte and gives his character more dimension than was clearly in the script. Hardy has previously impressed in "Inception" and "Bronson."
Con: "Warrior" was one of the biggest commercial disappointments of the year. Lionsgate would have to invest significant money for a real campaign for Hardy or the film.
