2012 Academy Award nominees: Winners and losers
With each year's Oscar nominations, movie buffs everywhere bemoan the perceived disses of certain films and performers, while smacking their foreheads over the thought of who got nominated in their place. This year is no different, as the Academy lauded returning winners (George Clooney, Woody Allen) and new audience favorites (silent films, 3D documentaries), while snubbing blockbuster franchises ("Harry Potter"), dark films ("Shame," "We Need to Talk About Kevin") and young upstarts (Ryan Gosling).
