Winner: Fresh winners Katey Sagal, Chris Colfer and 'Boardwalk Empire'
Golden Globe voters are always drawn to whatever's shiny and new, when it comes to TV. As a result, they occasionally get to carve out new award-receiving ground for deserving performers who may not be on the radar yet elsewhere. "Boardwalk Empire" probably didn't deserve to beat "Mad Men" or the unnominated "Breaking Bad," but it was an example of the Globes trying to carve out ground and be relevant. Sometimes Globe voters are prone to superficial choices, but when it comes to "Glee" star Chris Colfer and "Sons of Anarchy" star Katey Sagal, I hope Emmy voters take note.
