Winner: "Blue Valentine"
Is "Valentine" turning into the little indie that could? Strangely viewed as uncommercial after its Sundance Film Festival debut, the critically acclaimed drama has not only fought off a ridiculous NC-17 rating from the MPAA (it's now rated R), but landed stars Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling Globe nods for best actor - drama and best actress - drama. While the nominations are well deserved, landing both was a surprise considering how competitive each field was. And for distributor The Weinstein Company, it's very welcome good publicity before the film opens in limited release at the end of the month.
