Loser: Showtime comedies
All six Outstanding Comedy Series nods went to network shows, which wasn't particularly good news for Showtime's roster of half-hour dramedies. Only Laura Linney and Edie Falco made the Lead Actress in a Comedy field, meaning that former winner Toni Collette and former nominee Mary-Louise Parker were shut out. An Outstanding Comedy Series nominee last year, "Nurse Jackie" fell to only two nominations. "The Big C" picked up three nominations in its first year on the ballot, as did "Episodes." "Weeds" and "The United States of Tara" were ignored entirely.
