Will a former winner dominate the field or will the Academy crown a new champion?
Jim Broadbent, "Another Year"
Pro: The former best actor winner for "Iris" delivers another subtle, but profound performance in Mike Leigh's spot on drama. He'd have to campaign for it, but he could easily join co-star Leslie Manville in the Kodak Theater audience if he does.
Con: Broadbent isn't one to spend months on the awards circuit. Unless critic's groups embrace his performance it's probably a reach.
