True stories dominate this year's competition
Pros: The critical hit of the Toronto Film Festival, John Cameron Mitchell's big screen adaptation of David Lindsay-Abaire's award winning play (Lindsay-Abaire wrote the screenplay) surprises by overcoming every expected cliche of a drama centered on a couple who are struggling with the death of their young child. The film also features fantastic performances from Nicole Kidman, Aaron Eckhardt and best supporting actress frontrunner Diane Weist.
Cons: Lionsgate has the tough task of organizing an impactful awards season campaign after only acquiring the picture after the Toronto. That could mean the difference between landing a best picture nod or just finding yourself in the acting races.
